Winner Round-Up: Lottery Players Claim Top Prizes on Scratch-Off Games in Arkansas

Little rock, Ark.

Three lottery players recently claimed big prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center, all thanks to their lucky scratch-off tickets.

Rebecca K. of Sebastian County won $200,000 playing the $10 Diamonds & Gold instant game. She purchased the winning ticket at Walmart #141, 8301 Rogers Ave., in Fort Smith on a whim. She plays lottery games every two or three weeks, checking online to see the remaining top prizes for instant games.

Rebecca scratched off her ticket at home and, to her surprise, discovered she had won a $200,000 top prize.

“I was in total disbelief,” she told lottery officials. “I thought, ‘That can’t be right.’”

However, Rebecca had indeed won the prize. She first shared the good news with her sons, her best friends, and a financial advisor. She plans to continue playing lottery games.

Two $200,000 top prizes remain on Diamonds & Gold.

Two more players also won top prizes playing $50,000 Stacked, a $20 instant game, and claimed their prizes on March 4.

Sam M. of Bowie County, TX, won a $50,000 prize on the stacked instant game after a trip to Paul’s Pawn & Gun, located at 2809 E. 9th St. in Texarkana. His friend gave him a ride to the gas station, and he purchased the last few $50,000 Stacked tickets available.

As Sam scratched the winning ticket, he initially thought he had won $50; however, he soon realized that the prize was worth much more. Shocked, Sam asked the retailer to scan his ticket to confirm that it was real.

The lucky winner first told his friend about the win.

The second $50,000 Stacked winner, James Malone from Benton, bought his winning ticket at Salem Congo Gas & Food, 6680 Congo Road, in Benton after some encouragement from his wife.

“Maybe you should try out that scratch-off ticket,” she said.

James plays lottery games once or twice a year. He decided to take his wife’s advice, noting, “You never know what’s going to happen.”

James visited the retailer and bought a few $20 tickets, including $50,000 Stacked. He scratched off the ticket at his mother’s house, using his “lucky quarter.” The token may have come in handy; as he scratched the middle row, James discovered he had won a $50,000 top prize.

“My heart did something weird,” James told lottery officials, laughing. “I thought, ‘What is this feeling? This is unreal!’”

Ecstatic, he rushed to tell his mother.

“Oh my gosh, mom!” James said. “I just won $50,000.”

He also shared the good news with several of his friends, all of whom congratulated him.

As a disabled veteran, James plans to support some of his veteran friends with his winnings.

“I want to treat it right,” he told lottery officials. “I just like to help people.”

Fifty-eight $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Stacked.
