Winner Round-Up: Arkansas Lottery Players Score Summer Wins with Scratch-Off Tickets

Little Rock, Ark.

Whether the ticket is $5 or $20, Arkansans are taking home big top prizes by playing instant games this summer.

R. Sorrells of Craighead County won $200,000 playing Diamonds & Gold, a $10 scratch-off game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on July 13.

Sorrells bought the winning ticket at Jordan’s Kwik Stop #64, located at 19888 Highway 18 E. in Monette.

“It was my first time playing Diamonds & Gold,” Sorrells told lottery officials. “I’m usually big on the $5 tickets, but I decided to try $10 games recently.”

Unbeknownst to Sorrells, that $10 ticket started a small winning streak. At the time, he set the ticket aside without scratching it off. However, he revisited the game after winning on two different instant tickets a few days later. To his surprise, he won $200,000.

“I started seeing all those zeros and could hardly believe it,” Sorrells said.

Sorrells first shared the good news with his family. He plans to save his winnings and invest in a new vehicle.

One $200,000 top prize remains on the Diamonds & Gold instant game.

Another winner, a Little Rock resident, won $100,000 playing the $100,000 Platinum Crossword purchased at Doublebees #142, 7600 Cantrell Road in Little Rock. Shocked, they nearly fainted upon discovering the win. They first shared the good news with their spouse and plan to save their winnings.

Three $100,000 prizes remain on $100,000 Platinum Crossword.

Darwin B. from Faulkner County was also stunned when he won a $77,777 top prize playing Diamond 7s.

“Something just told me to stop and buy three tickets,” Darwin told lottery officials.

He bought the ticket at Maverik #5273, 1775 Old Morrilton Highway in Conway, and scratched it off while still at the gas station. To his surprise, one of the tickets held a $77,777 prize. Shocked, he asked the clerk to double-check his ticket.

“Looks like you won the big one!” the clerk confirmed.

Two $77,777 top prizes remain on Diamond 7s.
