Pulaski County Woman Plans to Run Errands, Lands $50,000 Prize Instead

Little Rock, Ark.

A Pulaski County woman celebrates a big win after winning an unexpected prize during her routine errands.

D. Butler won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on July 23.

The winning ticket was sold at Cana Food Mart, located at 1524 Pike Ave. in North Little Rock.

Butler, a daily lottery player with a preference for scratch-offs, was running errands when she stopped by the retailer for a drink. Once inside, she decided to try her luck with a new ticket. The Pulaski County woman scanned the lottery bin and noticed $50,000 Frenzy—the only game she hadn’t tried yet. Butler purchased the $20 ticket and returned to her car to scratch it off.

Realizing she had forgotten to grab a drink, the Pulaski County woman started to go back to the store. Her plan was instantly interrupted when she discovered she had won a $50,000 top prize.

“No way, no way, no way!” Butler thought. “I must’ve done something wrong!”

Even though the player had long dreamed of winning big, the prize came as a complete shock.

“You’re sitting there scratching, thinking maybe it’ll be $500 or $1,000,” Butler told lottery officials. “I never, ever thought of $50,000.”

Her husband was equally stunned when she texted him a photo of the winning ticket.

“Are you sure you scratched that right?” he asked.

The Pulaski County woman had indeed won the $50,000 prize, but the good news still hadn’t settled in by the time she arrived at the ASL Claim Center.

“I still don’t believe it!” Butler said. “This is the first time I’ve ever won this much.”

Thirty-six top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
