Lewisville Man Wins $50,000 with Valentine’s Day Ticket; First-Time Ticket Buyer Lands $50,000 Lottery Prize
Two Arkansas lottery players landed their biggest prizes yet with spur-of-the-moment ticket purchases.
Lewisville resident Jeffery S. won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked, a $20 instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Feb. 20.
The winning ticket was purchased at Smoker Friendly #1154, 1007 North Hervey St., in Hope.
Jeffery bought the winning ticket on Valentine’s Day. His wife had unfortunately fallen ill, leading the couple to spend the holiday indoors. Jeff went out to pick up dinner and, on a whim, decided to purchase two $20 lottery tickets. When he returned home, he gave one to his wife and kept the other for himself. The couple scratched their tickets together, prepared to be satisfied with any prize.
“Whether it’s $50 or $100, that’s a good day,” Jeffery told lottery officials.
Neither could have anticipated the $50,000 prize hiding in Jeffery’s lottery ticket.
“There’s no way,” Jeffery said. “I’ve never won anything like this in my life!”
The couple was ecstatic about winning and wanted to claim the prize as soon as possible.
“We’re still in shock,” Jeffery’s wife said. “This will go far for our retirement.”
Evan R. of Saline County also won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked. He purchased the winning ticket at Hebron of AR, 6109 Crystal Hill Road in North Little Rock, and claimed his prize on Feb. 20.
Evan was a first-time lottery player. His mother had often encouraged him to try his luck, saying, “You might be the one to win!”
Taking his mother’s advice, Evan stopped at the lottery retailer for a ticket on his way to work. Although he knew little about lottery games, the $50,000 Stacked instant ticket caught his eye. Evan waited until he had arrived at his workplace and scratched off his ticket in the car. To his shock, he discovered a $50,000 top prize.
“This can’t be real!” Evan thought.
He proceeded to complete the rest of his workday as normal, but the big win still weighed on his mind.
“You know that day was lovely,” he told lottery officials, smiling.
Evan first shared the good news with his mom, and all she could say was, “I told you so!”
The lucky winner plans to use his prize for home improvements and intends to play the lottery occasionally, committed to doing so responsibly.
Sixty-eight $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Stacked.
