Lawrence County Man Claims $150,000 Powerball Prize; Powerball and LOTTO Jackpots Rise for Wednesday Night
Lawrence County resident Michael W. won $150,000 in the Oct. 17 Powerball® drawing and claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Oct. 20.
The winning ticket was sold at Jordan’s Kwik Stop 50, 2917 Highway 63, in Portia. The winning numbers were 12, 13, 24, 32 and 35, and the Powerball number was 11. The Power Play® multiplier was 3.
Michael plays Powerball regularly once the jackpot reaches at least $250 million, always opting for the Power Play multiplier. He also prefers letting the terminal generate his numbers with Quick Pick tickets, though the odds of winning remain the same whether players use Quick Picks or choose their own numbers. This time, both decisions paid off with a big win.
While the pair were relaxing at home, Michael’s wife informed him that she saw an unclaimed, winning Powerball ticket had been sold in Portia. Michael recalled that he had a ticket in his car. His wife grabbed it, checked the numbers and told him he had won the $150,000 prize.
Michael matched four of the five winning numbers, plus the Powerball number, to win a $50,000 prize. With that night’s multiplier, his winnings tripled to $150,000.
“This can’t be real,” Michael thought.
In disbelief, the pair shared the good news with their son. Even after checking the numbers, Michael and his wife wanted a third set of eyes to verify the win.
“You never think you’re going to be the one who wins,” Michael told lottery officials.
Michael and his wife plan to buy a car for their son and save some of their winnings. Michael also intends to continue playing Powerball; the draw game has solidified itself as his personal favorite, now that he has won.
Tonight, the Powerball jackpot is $635 million, marking the thirtieth draw in the current jackpot run. This is also the draw game’s second-highest jackpot in 2026.
Overall, six Powerball jackpots have been claimed this year, with winning tickets sold in eight states, including Arkansas. The last one was claimed at $1.04 billion in August.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday at 9:59 p.m. To win the jackpot, a player must match the five numbers drawn, plus the Powerball number. Tickets cost $2 per play, and players can buy the optional Power Play® multiplier for an additional $1, which can increase non-jackpot winnings by 2, 3, 4, 5 or 10 times.
Powerball ticket sales cut off at 8:59 p.m. on draw nights.
Also drawing tonight at 9 p.m., the LOTTO jackpot is $2.862 million. Tickets cost $2 per play, and ticket sales close at 8:59 p.m.
Draw game tickets are available for purchase at licensed ASL retailers and through retailer apps from ASL’s Play on the Go partners. For more information about Play on the Go options, visit the Where To Play page on the ASL website.
