Instant Tickets, Instant Prizes: Two Arkansas Lottery Players Win Big on the Same Day
Monday morning, two lucky lottery players visited the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center to collect big prizes.
Amanda H. from Baxter County won $100,000 playing $100,000 Golden Ticket, a $5 instant game. She bought the winning ticket at 24 Hour Fuel, located at 403 Highway 62 E. in Mountain Home.
Amanda says she only plays occasionally whenever she has some extra cash. When she does play, she prefers to select her tickets by intuition.
“I just have this gut feeling,” she told lottery officials.
This time, Amanda’s instincts would lead her to the last $100,000 Golden Ticket in the retailer’s lottery bin, along with a few other tickets. She scratched off the winning ticket at home and was stunned to discover that she had won a $100,000 top prize.
“Next thing you know, it’s like— ‘No way!’” she said.
Amanda shared the good news with her and her partner’s parents, who encouraged her to use the prize wisely.
The lucky winner plans to build a home on some land with her winnings. She also intends to continue playing lottery games.
“I never imagined I would win anything like this,” she said. “If you have that gut feeling, go with it!”
One top prize worth $100,000 remains on $100,000 Golden Ticket.
Another winner, James Guerin from Saline County, won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy. He also claimed his prize on Sept. 15.
The winning ticket was purchased at 1324 W. Main LLC, located at 1324 West Main St. in Cabot.
Guerin, a weekly lottery player with a preference for scratch-offs, was traveling when he stopped in Cabot and decided to buy the $20 ticket when his favorite game with a $1 million top prize was sold out.
He scratched the ticket off in the store, assuming he had won a smaller prize.
“Oh, here’s another $1,000 winner,” Guerin thought.
When he realized that he had actually won a $50,000 top prize instead, all he could think was “Wow!”
So far, Guerin has told his partner and best friend about the win. He has yet to make official plans for his win, but he has considered putting it in the bank. He also intends to continue playing lottery games in hopes of a bigger prize.
Twenty-eight top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
