Hot Springs Man Wins $200,000 Playing $10 Instant Game; Columbia County Lottery Player Lands $50,000 Prize

Little Rock, Ark.

For two Arkansas players, last week brought big wins and a lucky change of pace for their lottery routines.

J. Carlock of Hot Springs won $200,000 playing Psychedelic Payout, a $10 scratch-off game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Dec. 12.

The winning ticket was purchased at Grace Convenience Store, 458 W. Grand Ave. in Hot Springs.

Carlock bought the winning ticket while hanging out with friends and waiting for the plumber. Playing “every day but Sunday,” the Hot Springs man always purchases two tickets at a time. This time was no different except that the last play spot on his new Psychedelic Payout ticket held a $200,000 top prize.

“I can’t believe it,” Carlock told lottery officials.

He told his friend and grandson about the win, then rushed to claim his prize at the ASL Claim Center that same day.

Carlock plans to buy his granddaughter a graduation gift with his winnings. He has also purchased a Powerball® ticket in hopes of winning the jackpot, which is now more than $1 billion.

Another winner, Edward S. of Columbia County, won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy. He claimed his prize on Dec. 11.

Edward bought the $20 winning ticket at Dixie Mart #7285, 1645 E. Main St. in Magnolia. He had stopped for gas and had an extra $20 to spend when $50,000 Frenzy caught his eye. A daily player, Edward had won $500 earlier that week on the same game and decided to try for an even bigger win.

“If I’m winning on something, I stick with it,” Edward told lottery officials.

His strategy paid off: his ticket held a $50,000 top prize.

“I’m dreaming,” he thought.

Initially, Edward wanted to keep his win a secret. However, he was so overjoyed that he soon found himself sharing the good news with several family members.

The lucky winner plans to move closer to his grandchildren with his winnings, hinting that with the holidays just around the corner, “Santa Claus may be coming to town.”

Edward also plans to donate some of his winnings.

“A lot of good can be done, so let’s do some good with what we’ve got,” he said.

Fifteen $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
