Drew County Resident Claims $350,000 Lottery Prize
One lucky Arkansan bought a lottery ticket because it matched his favorite color and walked home with a massive prize.
T. Austin from Drew County won $350,000 playing $350,000 Cash Payout, a $20 instant game. He claimed his prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on June 13.
The winning ticket was sold at the Walmart Supercenter located on 274 Highway 425 N. in Monticello.
Austin had only stopped for gas when he decided to buy the winning ticket. His brother had recently won big playing another instant game, and the Drew County man wanted to try his own luck.
“I don’t even really play that often,” Austin told lottery officials. “I was just thinking, ‘It might be my time.’”
As an infrequent player, Austin had neither a favorite game nor a favorite lottery retailer. However, he did have a favorite color—blue—which led him to grab the blue $350,000 Cash Payout ticket. The player scratched it off while still in the store, and to his shock, the second-to-last play spot held a $350,000 top prize.
“No way!” the Drew County resident thought. “I’m glad I picked the right one!”
Ecstatic, Austin called his father to share the good news; the elder immediately went out to buy a scratch-off ticket, his sights set on a big win of his own.
“I wish him luck,” the winner laughed.
A long-time animal lover, Austin plans to buy some land and animals with his winnings.
One top prize worth $350,000 remains on $350,000 Cash Payout.
