Conway Woman Wins $100,000 Powerball Prize; Powerball Jackpot Skyrockets to $1.2 Billion for Wednesday Night

Little Rock, ARK.

Joanna J. of Conway recently claimed a $100,000 Powerball® prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center in Little Rock. The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold at Kum & Go #158, 2050 Dave Ward Drive in Conway, for the Sept. 30 drawing.

The winning numbers were white balls 19, 30, 37, 44 and 46, with the Powerball being 22. The multiplier was two. Joanna matched the four white balls and the Powerball number. However, she increased her $50,000 prize to $100,000 by including the Power Play® option for an additional $1 per play.

Joanna and her best friend, LeaAnn, recently discussed the growing Powerball jackpot.

“I told Joanna that it was time for us to buy some lottery tickets because of the high jackpot,” said LeaAnn. “We made a pact that if either of us won big, we would take a vacation together.”

Joanna added, “I stopped at the Kum & Go to purchase some tickets before leaving Conway Saturday afternoon to watch a Muay Thai fight in Springdale.”

She first told LeaAnn about the win and plans to put the rest of her lottery prize toward bills. The duo is still undecided about their vacation destination.

Retailers receive a 1 percent commission from the sales of winning lottery products, which means Kum & Go #158 will receive a $1,000 commission check for selling the winning Powerball ticket.

The Powerball jackpot has surpassed the billion-dollar mark and now stands at an estimated $1.2 billion for the next drawing on Wednesday night.

"This marks the first time in Powerball game history that back-to-back jackpot cycles have generated billion-dollar grand prizes," said Eric Hagler, ASL executive director. "The Powerball jackpot was previously won on July 19 for $1.08 billion. Since then, there have been 32 consecutive drawings without a grand prize winner."

Wednesday's estimated jackpot ranks as the third-largest in the Powerball game and the seventh-largest among U.S. lottery jackpots.

Jackpot winners may choose to receive their prize as an annuity, paid in 30 graduated payments over 29 years, or a lump sum payment estimated at $551.7 million. Both prize options are before taxes.

Powerball tickets are $2 per play and can be purchased at any lottery retailer or on the Jackpocket app. A player can also add Power Play, which multiplies any non-jackpot prizes won with an additional $1. Both winning and non-winning tickets are eligible to enter in The Club for Points for Prizes®.
