Arkansas Lottery Players Win Big After Holidays

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

Several lottery players claimed big prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on Jan. 3.

Alexander resident Kimala Wallace recently won a $200,000 lottery prize on the $10 $200,000 Bankroll instant game. Wallace purchased the winning ticket from the Circle K Store at 13625 Vimy Ridge in Bryant on Jan. 2.

That same night, Wallace scratched off her ticket in bed—much to the annoyance of her husband, Johnny Wallace Jr. His tune changed immediately upon discovering her win.

“I thought she was joking because we always play like that,” he shared with lottery officials.

Following a three-day win streak, the $200,000 win marks Wallace’s biggest lottery prize. Beginning on Dec. 31, the Arkansan has won $30 and $100 on other instant games.

“God did it again,” Wallace thought of her win at the time. She considered it a “blessing” following a difficult December.

Wallace intends to pay off some bills with her prize and purchase another ticket.

A pair of winners also claimed the $125,000 Natural State Jackpot for the Jan. 2 drawing. The winning numbers for that night were 5, 11, 20, 35 and 37, and the ticket was purchased from Pangburn Citgo, at 703 Main St.

Janet Russenberger and Joe Castor of Pangburn are long-time friends with a lottery-playing partnership. Castor purchased tickets for three lottery games—Natural State Jackpot, Mega Millions®, and Powerball®—, and then gave them to Russenberger.

“She gets three days of fun,” Castor chuckled.

Though they have won some small prizes before, this is the duo’s first big win. They will split their prize and “put it to good use,” yet neither has decided on specifics. They also intend to keep playing lottery games together.

Heber Springs resident M. Humphries won a $100,000 Powerball prize on Christmas Day. He purchased the winning ticket from his favorite retailer, Heber Springs Discount Tobacco, at 2210 Highway 25B.

Humphries used the same numbers for multiple draws: 5, 12, 24, 29 and 48, with the Powerball number being 4. The digits are a mix of his and his wife’s birthdays plus his lucky number.

With his winnings, Humphries intends to pay off some expenses.
