April Proves Lucky for Lottery Playing Arkansans

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

Three Arkansans claimed big prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on April 9.

Aaron Piedra of Rogers recently won $150,000 during the April 3 Powerball® drawing. He purchased the winning Quick Pick ticket at Murphy USA 6529 on 2112 W. Walnut St. in Rogers.

The winning numbers were 11, 38, 41, 62 and 65, and the Powerball number was 15. The Power Play multiplier was 3.

Aaron, a weekly lottery player, purchased the winning ticket for his birthday. He gave the ticket little thought until after the drawing when a local news story announced that a $150,000 ticket had been sold at his favorite retailer. His wife checked their numbers and saw they had won the massive prize.

“We freaked out the whole Sunday—screamed and jumped and danced and everything,” Aaron shared with lottery officials.

With his prize, Aaron plans to pay off his family’s mortgage.

T. Nelson, a Pine Bluff resident, recently won $100,000 playing the $5 $100,000 Payout instant game. He purchased the winning ticket at SR Quick Mart on 5001 Dollarway Road in Pine Bluff.

Nelson purchased the winning ticket on the way to work with a friend. Nelson’s friend purchased two $100,000 Payout instant game tickets, and Nelson bought a third. The pair then returned to the car, challenging each other to scratch their tickets and compare prizes.

Lucky for the Pine Bluff resident, his ticket held the $100,000 top prize.

“I was so shocked I ended up passing the ticket to him to check,” Nelson said.

He plans to pay off debts and invest in home improvements with his prize.

Following Nelson’s win, two prizes remain on the $100,000 Payout instant game.

Another Rogers resident, Laurie Miller, won $75,000 playing the $3 Bingo Extra instant game. She purchased the winning ticket at Jiffy Kwick on 219 S. Arkansas in Rogers. She plans to pay debts and “play” with her prize.

There are two prizes left on the Bingo Extra instant game.

102 Arkansans claimed $458,457 total in lottery prizes at the claim center during the week of April 1 - April 5.
