A Lucky Pivot: Two Arkansans Win $50,000 Lottery Prizes; Powerball Jackpot Jumps to $544 Million for Tonight’s Draw
Two Arkansas lottery players recently learned that sometimes, a small change in plans can lead to big wins.
White County resident L. Hall won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked, a $20 instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on July 13.
The winning ticket was purchased at Beebe Tobacco Store, 2414 W. Center St., Ste. D, in Beebe.
Hall initially visited the store with one goal: to buy two tickets for her favorite scratch-off game, Instant Million. However, once inside, she also purchased one $50,000 Stacked ticket. Unbeknownst to her, that quick pivot would lead to a $50,000 top prize.
Hall was sitting in her car when she scratched the ticket and discovered her win.
“Is that right?” she wondered. “Are my eyes working?”
After the win, $50,000 Stacked has become Hall’s new favorite game. The lucky winner plans to take a “lavish vacation” with her prize.
“Not an ordinary one!” she told lottery officials.
Another winner, Justin G. of Benton County, won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked. He bought the winning ticket at Casey’s General Store #3209, 2401 W. Olive St., in Rogers.
“I just play every now and then,” Justin said.
The lucky winner was on his way to work when he stopped by the convenience store for a drink. On a whim, he also bought a $50,000 Stacked ticket. Later, Justin’s partner told lottery officials that a slight change in routine led to the big win.
“He usually plays $5 or $10 tickets, but he just happened to get the $20 game that day,” she shared.
The purchase proved to be Justin’s lucky break. While at work, he scratched the ticket and, to his shock, won a $50,000 prize. He scanned the game’s barcode with his phone before he believed the good news. Players can use the ticket checker in the AR Lottery + Club app to see if their ticket is a winner.
Thrilled, Justin first told his partner about the win.
“I thought he was joking when he told me,” she said. “I finally believed him when he kept speaking so seriously about it.”
The couple plans to work on some home repairs with the prize.
Thirty-nine $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Stacked.
Arkansas lottery players can win big with draw games, too. Tonight’s Powerball® jackpot is $544 million.
Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Tickets cost $2 per play, and ticket sales cut off at 8:59 p.m. on draw nights.
