Arkansas Scholarship Lottery to Host Celebration of $1.817 Billion Powerball Ticket in Cabot
The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) will host an event at Murphy USA 7879, 208 S. Rockwood Drive in Cabot on June 12 to celebrate the winning $1.817 billion Powerball® ticket sold at the retailer on Christmas Eve. The public is invited.
“We’re excited not only to celebrate the big win, but also to recognize Murphy USA for selling the winning ticket,” said ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong. “Because Murphy USA is an Arkansas-based retailer, the win feels like a full-circle moment for the state.”
Strong added that the lottery wants to spotlight the Cabot community's small-town spirit and emphasize that a lottery win can happen even in a small town.
“The $1.817 billion win brought international attention to Cabot and serves as an important reminder that big wins can happen anywhere,” she said.
The celebration will begin at 10 a.m., featuring games, prizes, a radio remote with KSSN 96 and other community festivities. ASL Executive Director Sharon Strong, Murphy USA, Arkansas Legislators Speaker of the House Brian Evans and Senator Ricky Hill, and City of Cabot Council Member James Reid will be present to give remarks. Coca-Cola will offer samples and other product promotions.
Event attendees can spin the lottery’s prize wheel for prizes with the purchase of a $2 Powerball ticket. Visitors can also enter for a chance to win a special lottery giveaway.
