Little Rock Woman Wins $50,000 Prize Playing Scratch-Off Game

Little Rock, Ark.

A casual gas stop led to a surprise lottery win for one lucky Arkansas resident.

Curtistine Patton of Little Rock won $50,000 playing 200X, a $20 instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on May 18.

The winning ticket was sold at Murphy USA 7102, 23600 Chenal Parkway in Little Rock.

Patton bought the winning ticket while getting gas with her husband. An occasional scratch-off player, she had not played in a while and purchased the $20 ticket on a whim.

“I don’t even know why I picked it,” Patton told lottery officials.

Unbeknownst to her, the spontaneous purchase would lead to a $50,000 win.

While still at the gas station, Patton scratched only the barcode on the ticket and scanned it. Once the scanner instructed her to visit the ASL Claim Center to claim her prize, curiosity took over, and she scratched the rest of the ticket to see what she had won.

“I just yelled,” she laughed. “The winning number was right there, on the very last row.”

Patton’s husband, who had been standing next to her as she scratched the ticket, ran around their car in celebration.

The lucky winner first shared the good news with her sister, and she plans to work on home improvements with her prize.

Three $500,000 top prizes remain on the 200X instant game.
