Pulaski County Man Wins $50,000 Playing New Scratch-Off; Ouachita County Man Wins Big with Spontaneous Ticket Buy

Little Rock, Ark.

The Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) launched an all-new ticket family this week, and players from around the state have already won top prizes.

Pulaski County resident C. Williams won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked. He claimed his prize at the ASL Claim Center on Jan. 8.

Williams purchased the winning ticket at OK Mart, located at 705 S. First St. in Jacksonville. He stops by the retailer every day after work to grab a $5 or $10 scratch-off ticket. This time, however, a $50,000 Stacked ticket caught his eye. The $20 game launched on Tuesday, and Williams jumped at the chance to play.

“I like trying the new tickets when they come out,” he told lottery officials.

Williams scratched off his ticket the following morning before work.

“I didn’t think anything of it,” he told lottery officials. “I thought it would be $100 or $500, maybe. Then I scratched the first row and saw $10,000.”

Williams kept scratching and discovered two additional $20,000 prizes. In total, he won $50,000. Ecstatic, he struggled to maintain his composure for the rest of the workday.

The lucky winner plans to save money and purchase a new vehicle with his prize.

Another player, Darryl S. of Ouachita County, also won $50,000 playing $50,000 Stacked and claimed his prize on Jan. 9.

Darryl purchased the winning ticket on a whim at Karmic Fuel 9 LLC, 1166 W. Washington St. in Camden.

“I was just looking to pass the time,” he told lottery officials. “The win was just a stroke of luck.”

He scratched the ticket off in the gas station and, upon discovering his $50,000 top prize, turned to share the good news with his wife. The pair plan to save their winnings.

Seventy-eight $50,000 top prizes remain on $50,000 Stacked.

Four other tickets—$100 Stacked, $200 Stacked, $500 Stacked and $10,000 Stacked—launched this week alongside the $20 instant ticket. Since then, players from Leachville, Searcy and Newport have claimed $10,000 top prizes from $10,000 Stacked.
