For one Arkansas lottery player, a massive win was buried amongst a stack of non-winning tickets.

Alma resident Kathy R. won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy, a $20 instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on Sept. 5.

The winning ticket was sold at Oaks Corner, located at 6918 Alma Highway in Van Buren.

Playing lottery games twice each month, Kathy always saves her non-winning tickets in hopes of winning a Play It Again® Second-Chance drawing, where eligible instant games can be scanned and entered for a chance to win another prize. Kathy had just finished her workday when she decided to scan some of her scratch-off tickets into the AR Lottery + Club app. What she never expected to find was a winning $50,000 Frenzy ticket hidden among them.

“Did I just freaking win $50,000?” she thought as she scanned the ticket.

Kathy quickly confirmed her win and rushed to share the good news with her coworkers. Initially skeptical, their doubts vanished when she sent a photo of the lucky scratch-off. The lucky winner said most of her friends and family were ecstatic.

The $50,000 prize marked Kathy’s biggest lottery win yet. She was still stunned by her luck when she arrived at the ASL Claim Center.

“I’ve had those tickets in my car since January, maybe February,” she told lottery officials. “By grace it didn’t end up in the garbage!”

Kathy plans to have fun with her winnings.

Twenty-nine top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.

On the heels of the $1.8 billion Powerball® jackpot that was won on Sept. 6, lottery players still have a chance to win big with the next Mega Millions® drawing. The jackpot is $358 million for tomorrow night.

Drawing Wednesday night, the LOTTO jackpot also rises to $1.05 million. It marks the third LOTTO jackpot to surpass the $1 million milestone. Arkansas residents have claimed previous LOTTO jackpots at $5.123 million and $2.338 million.
