Powerball Win Streak: Bryant Man Claims $100,000 Prize; LOTTO Jackpot Crosses $1 Million as Powerball Surges to $1.7 Billion

Little Rock, Ark.

Powerball® luck continues in Arkansas with another winning ticket sold for the Sept. 3 drawing. In the last two weeks, two Arkansas lottery players have won prizes of $50,000 and $150,000 respectively. Now, a third has joined their ranks.

Bryant resident Clinton Keever won $100,000 in last night’s Powerball drawing. He purchased the winning ticket at S & A Gas and Groceries, located at 311 S. Reynolds Road in Bryant. The winning numbers were 3, 16, 29, 61 and 69, and the Powerball number was 22. The Power Play® multiplier was 2.

Clinton and his wife are a lottery-playing duo with slightly different play strategies. While his wife plays Powerball and scratch-off games frequently, Clinton prefers to wait until the jackpots are high. With the Powerball jackpot climbing to over $1 billion, the Bryant man decided it was time to take a chance on the multi-state draw game. He purchased three tickets at his regular lottery retailer, choosing his own numbers for one and using computer-generated numbers for the others.

On the night of the drawing, Clinton’s wife watched the news for the winning numbers and copied them onto a loose sheet of paper to compare with her ticket. Coming up empty, she called Clinton to check his own numbers.

“What happens if you’ve got the four white balls and the red Powerball?” Clinton asked.

His wife’s eyes widened in disbelief.

“Clinton, I think you won!” she announced.

With one of his Quick Pick tickets, Clinton had matched four out of five winning numbers, plus the Powerball number, to win a base prize of $50,000, which doubled to $100,000 with Power Play. Clinton was one of thirty-six nationwide to land this prize.

Ecstatic, the couple shared the good news with their equally excited children before heading to the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center early the following day.

“We were so excited we couldn’t sleep,” Clinton’s wife told lottery officials. “Everything inside is shaking like crazy.”

Clinton plans to buy a new car with his winnings. Although the $100,000 prize marks Clinton’s biggest yet, the couple told lottery officials that they’re still aiming for the overall Powerball jackpot.

Saturday night’s $1.7 billion jackpot is both the third-largest Powerball jackpot and third-largest draw game jackpot in U.S. history.

Also drawing Saturday night, the LOTTO jackpot is $1.015 million.

Powerball and LOTTO tickets are available for purchase at licensed ASL retailers and through retailer apps from ASL’s Play on the Go partners. For more information about the Play on the Go options, visit the Where To Play page on the ASL website.
