Pulaski County Woman Claims $77,777 Prize on 7/7; Jacksonville Man Wins $50,000 Playing Instant Game

Little Rock, Ark.

Two Pulaski County residents landed extraordinary wins while following their ordinary lottery-playing routines.

For one winner, seven might be a new lucky number.

M. Butler won $77,777 playing Red White & Blue 7s, a $5 instant game. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery (ASL) Claim Center on July 7.

The winning ticket was sold last weekend at Road Runner #15, located at 500 Broadway in Little Rock.

“I was just going to my Shell to buy my tickets like I always do,” Butler told lottery officials.

Butler is a long-time weekly lottery player and no stranger to winning; she has visited the ASL Claim Center twice before to claim $1,000 and $5,000 prizes. The Pulaski County woman typically enjoys $10 and $20 games like Psychedelic Payout or 200X the Cash, but this time, the newly launched Red White & Blue 7s ticket caught her eye.

The player returned home to complete her usual scratch-off regimen: sitting down in her room with a freshly poured cup of coffee and her ticket. However, she soon realized that this was no ordinary instant game; in fact, it held a $77,777 top prize.

“I wasn’t expecting it at all,” the lucky winner said. “I thought, ‘Is this real? Are they pranking me?’”

She scanned her ticket on the official AR Lottery + Club app, and sure enough, it instructed her to visit the ASL Claim Center to collect her winnings. At the Claim Center, the Pulaski County woman realized with amusement that she had claimed her $77,777 prize on “7/7.”

“That’s called synchronicity!” she said.

So far, Butler hasn’t shared the good news with anyone, but she does hope to help her family with her winnings.

Red White & Blue 7s has two $77,777 top prizes remaining.

Another winner, Edward Alexander from Jacksonville, won $50,000 playing $1,000,000 Jackpot. He claimed his prize on July 9.

The winning ticket was sold at Discount Tobacco Jacksonville, 501 S. James St. in Jacksonville.

Edward, an almost daily lottery player, stopped at the retailer to buy his regular tickets. He had won $20 on a $20 ticket earlier that day and decided to cash in his winnings for the $1,000,000 Jackpot instant game.

As per usual, the player returned home to scratch off his ticket. To his shock, one play spot held one of the winning numbers needed to win a $50,000 prize.

“There it was!” Edward said. “I had to look at it three or four times to make sure I was correct.”

He shared the good news with his siblings shortly after, noting that they were all equally excited for him.

The Jacksonville man told lottery officials that his brother and several acquaintances had also claimed prizes at the ASL Claim Center, but he never expected to land such a big win of his own.

Two top prizes worth $1 million each remain on the $1,000,000 Jackpot instant game. One second-tier prize worth $50,000 is also available.
