Two Arkansas Lottery Players Win Big with Weekend Tickets

Little ROCK, ARK.

Two lucky Arkansas lottery players won big prizes over the weekend.

Natalie M. of Pope County won $150,000 in the June 14 Powerball® drawing. She claimed her prize at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on June 16.

The winning ticket was sold at Tobacco Town Russellville, 115 E. Parkway Drive in Russellville. The winning numbers were 4, 6, 9, 23 and 59, and the Powerball number was 25. The Power Play® multiplier was 3.

Natalie bought the winning ticket as part of her usual lottery playing routine. She and her husband play Powerball “all the time,” and they had high hopes for Saturday night’s drawing.

“Somebody’s going to win,” her husband said. “Why can’t it be us?”

Natalie’s husband checked their numbers as she was getting ready the following morning. Shaking, he announced that they had matched four out of five winning numbers, plus the Powerball number, and landed a $50,000 prize. Because they purchased their ticket with the Power Play option, their prize tripled to $150,000.

Natalie was one of only nine players to win the six-digit prize in that night’s drawing.

“We’re still trying to process,” Natalie told lottery officials. “All the way up here, we rode in silence.”

Their shock is understandable; previously, the most Natalie had ever won was $100 on a scratch-off ticket.

The couple surprised their parents with the good news. Of course, it was hard to keep the secret while their parents visited for Father’s Day.

The Powerball jackpot for Saturday night is $118 million

Another winner, Washington County resident S. Ortiz, won $50,000 playing $50,000 Frenzy, a $20 instant game. She also claimed her prize on June 16.

The winning ticket was sold at Casey’s General Store #3237, 3704 S. Thompson St. in Springdale.

Ortiz, a casual lottery player, bought her winning ticket on a whim last Friday.

“I wanted to have some luck!” Ortiz told lottery officials. “I just wanted to scratch it and see what happens.”

Fortunately for Ortiz, luck was in her favor: her ticket held a $50,000 top prize.

“I couldn’t believe it!” she said.

The lucky winner plans to use her prize to help her parents. She also intends to continue playing lottery games.

Forty-six top prizes worth $50,000 each remain on $50,000 Frenzy.
