Retailer Spotlight - Walmart #3654 Fuel Station

It’s all about the customer at the Walmart Fuel Station in Rogers. From developing a rapport with regulars to anticipating players’ needs, the always-busy retailer has crafted a winning strategy for boosting sales.

Fuel Team Lead Tyler Prim tells lottery officials that he has developed a camaraderie with many of the location’s regulars, knowing their playing habits and what they’ll want to buy by heart.

“Almost every day, I’ve got the same regulars coming in. They even come in the mornings when we open,” Tyler shared. “I love to laugh with them.”

Even though he recently stepped into the fuel team lead position, Tyler is already acutely aware of what customers need. He tells lottery officials that visitors are often looking for one thing: a quick transaction. Whether they’re stopping for gas or grabbing a ticket, it’s the team’s job to ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible.

They make sure to display an up-to-date list of jackpots and prize information for players, and they keep their lottery bins fully stocked, activating new tickets as soon as one runs out. In fact, the retailer even added four additional rows to their initial 25 bins for their customers’ sake.

“We took it upon ourselves to make the expansion,” Tyler said. “We were already selling a lot of tickets and running out easily, and we wanted to offer more variety to our players.”

The team’s keen eye for customer satisfaction has ultimately paid off, with this retailer becoming one of the top-performing lottery retailers in the Walmart chain.
