Retailer Spotlight - Tobacco Town, Hot Springs
Winning is a big deal at Tobacco Town in Hot Springs, where the team loves to cheer on lottery wins of all sizes. Behind the scenes, hard work and hands-on training help make the magic happen.
“Lottery is definitely one of our major selling points and a big part of our training,” said Amber Taylor, store manager.
Amber started as a cashier with the company, then worked her way up to a managerial role. She has seen several winners over the years, whom she and the team like to celebrate with a dedicated “Winning Station.” In addition to their 70 lottery bins, the retailer’s ongoing winner support keeps the team busy all month long.
“Some of our regular players are ready as soon as the doors open,” Amber said. “They really look forward to the new games, and we’re prepared to be busy!”
To keep operations running smoothly, Tobacco Town focuses on hands-on training. All store associates are taught how to pay out winners, explain optional multipliers like Power Play® and talk about new lottery promotions.
Amber added that training becomes especially important when draw game jackpots are high. The potential for a life-changing win often brings new faces to the store, and the team wants to be ready.
“Our cashiers need to be able to answer questions and help people who have never played before,” she said.
In the end, being able to celebrate players’ wins makes the training more than worth it.
“We love the players’ excitement and love to see them happy,” Amber said. “This is winning!”
