Little Rock Man Wins $250,000 Playing Instant Game; Lavaca Man Claims $10,338 AR Progressive Jackpot

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.

Two Arkansans claimed big prizes at the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery Claim Center on May 6.

J. Hudson of Little Rock recently won $250,000 playing the $10 100X the Win instant game. He purchased the winning ticket at Wa Wa Mart on 7515 Baseline Road in Little Rock.

J., a daily lottery player, bought the ticket on his way to a doctor’s appointment. Though he enjoys a variety of scratch-off tickets and draw games, J. selected one of his favorites: a 100X the Win ticket.

The decision turned out to be lucky when the Little Rock man scratched his ticket and won the $250,000 top prize. Immediately, his thoughts turned toward how he would use it.

“I’m going to pay off my truck,” J. chuckled.

The winner first shared the good news with his wife, who “praised God.”

“And I’m still praising Him,” she told lottery officials, dancing.

In addition to paying off his truck, J. plans to pay off his wife’s truck and cover other expenses.

Following J.’s win, one top prize remains on the 100X the Win instant game.

A second winner, Lavaca resident Charles Desern, won $10,338 on the AR Progressive Fast Play game. He purchased the winning ticket at E-Z Mart #4247 on 5 W. Main in Lavaca.

Charles purchased the ticket while running errands. He stopped at his favorite convenience store and asked the clerk to “give [him] three and one”—his usual order of three cigars and one AR Progressive ticket.

Usually, the resident of Lavaca doesn’t check his own lottery tickets; he relies on the clerk to check them for him and inform him of his winnings. However, this time, Charles looked at his own ticket and was thrilled to discover that he had won the $10,338 jackpot with three matching symbols.

However, it took Charles a moment to register the big win.

“I saw the three [symbols], and I just kept on going,” he laughed. “And then it dawned on me.”

The winner first notified his wife, who was stunned. She once believed he could never hit the jackpot; now, she is grateful for his consistency.

“I thank the Lord He let us win this time,” she said.

Charles and his wife have a list of purchases they’d like to make with their prize, including a few necessities, a collar for their lively cat and “a bacon cheeseburger—with fries!” They plan to save the rest, acknowledging the unpredictability of life.
